Coaching Notes & Common Instructor Clarifications

  • Read the exact string to the shooter before each attempt: number of shots and time allowed. This avoids confusion

  • Shots will be fired from the “ready” position, (aimed at the target)

  • Explain that in the event of a malfunction, the student shall clear it within the allowed time, or it will be count as a “missed shot”
  • Encourage consistent grip, sight-picture, and recoil management during the multi‑shot strings. Time pressures often cause students to snap the trigger — emphasize follow‑through.

  • Emphasize strict adherence to safe gun handling and range rules, (that’s what this test is mostly about)

Scoring & Equipment

  • Use only B-27 Targets (must be 24X45 inches) and may only be black, blue, red or green.

  • Optical enhancers are not allowed if it has magnification, red dots are ok
